Junior High School Christmas Assembly, 1965
I have managed to forget the speaker’s name and what he looked like. What I do remember is a story he told.
During the holidays he worked at the post office. Part of his job was handling hundreds of letters addressed to Santa Claus. All the letters were received well before Christmas, giving Santa plenty of time to act on requests for toys, dolls, bikes, and clothes.
Christmas came and Christmas went. The New Year was only hours away. In the next bag of mail the man found one more letter addressed to Santa. This one was different from all the rest. It was a thank you letter.
Two magic words – thank you.
They never go out of style.
