Under Construction

You saw a sign that said “Home for Sale.”

You parked your car and decided to give it a look.

There is a lawn with little grass and a few weeds but one lone flower emerges from the soil.

Entry-way highlighted by 100 watt bulbs that give light to dark rooms.

Smells like fresh paint on top of old walls where the existing color still tends to bleed through.

Floors that crack when you walk over them yet they remain in place.

Faucets that leak from years of usage.

Mirrors that show broken reflections from cracked glass.

You’re led down a hallway where you stop and say this place is beautiful but there’s so much damage and work that needs to be done.

The home owner turns to you and says sorry I forgot to post a sign that says, “I’m under Construction.”
